First time doing a blog on Azure Production and very excited to explain what I currently do as my profession. I’m an intern here, coming from the Multimedia Design & Development program at Humber College.

At school I have become experienced with industry-standard software such as Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, Premiere, After Effects, Audition, and many more.

During my first year at Humber College, part of the mandatory video course included an assignment where we had to interview a certain individual. This included that we must use proper lighting, camera use, and script writing.

Three things that I found challenging while doing the interview included:

Planning

Pre-production was probably one of the most frustrating things that had to be dealt with, some tasks included contacting the person that needed to be interviewed, and setting up the location, time, and date which the interview had to be on. Finally, the script had to be fairly thought-out and there were a certain amount of questions that needed to be asked.

Weather conditions

The day our group did the interview was not planned accordingly because it was raining. Weather conditions play a serious role in video production because it may damage equipment or it may be too dangerous to actually do the filming. However, the rain was light and we brought the equipment inside quickly and did the interview as planned.

Post-production

The main program we used to edit the interview was Adobe Premiere. In the past I have used this program without fail; but when I had to use it for this particular project, many problems arose and it became fairly difficult to fix the issues. One of these was that the video and audio did not sync properly when we imported the files into Premiere. When we did it with our professor, he showed us the problem was that our file type wasn’t converted properly while filming and we just had to convert an AVC H264 file to an Apple Pro Res 422 HQ file.

Before I end this blog post, I would just like to give one piece of advice. The most important thing in the video production field would have to be team work, it does help speed up the process. The time saved can transition to the overall flow of the project.
