I began my Co-op program at Azure 6 months ago in December of 2015. My time here has helped to confirm my interest in the video industry. I learned a lot about different equipment, programs to edit with, and ways to improve my work. Above all I learned the importance of being resourceful, diligent, and personable. Although I may not have all these traits, this is a goal for me to strive for. When I had arrived at Azure I thought that I knew a lot about how to shoot videos, only to realize that there is a lot more going on behind the scenes than I realized. With the increasing concern everyone should be doing everything in their power to protect the environment. As filmmakers there are plenty of things you can do when shooting on set or editing at home. No matter what scene you’re shooting you will most likely be using artificial lighting. Leaving the lights on throughout the entire shoot is bad for the environment and the lights. Rachel McAdams, Michael Keaton & Mark Ruffalo in Spotlight Best Picture Will Win: I got nothing. Early pundits all tapped Spotlight, but the PGA upset for The Big Short could be an oscar night precursor, and so could The Revenant’s Globes and BAFTA win. Could these three split the vote leaving room for something like The Martian? Yes. Maybe just don’t put any money on this category. Should Win: Spotlight…Mad Max…apples…hand grenades. I have seen each film in theatres, twice. I was in awe both times. Spotlight tells a more important story, but Max represents more important possibilities in filmmaking. I’d take a first time best picture tie. Charlize Theron in Mad Max: Fury …

If you are a student you probably won’t be able to afford professional gear, and will most likely be looking for the cheaper options. Below are three lenses that are relatively cheap compared to a 24-70 mm f2.8 or a 70-200 mm f2.8 for example. The three lenses below cover most of bases for what a student would be working on. The wide: 18-55 mm f3.5-5.6 vr Kit Lens If you are just starting out in photography or video and you have decided on a DSLR you most likely opted for the kit lens bundle. If you just got the body you can pick one up for around $60 used. The 18-55 mm is a great all purpose lens as well as a wide angle lens at 18 mm. On a crop sensor it is a 27 mm due to the crop factor(1.5x). There is a slight distortion at 18 mm but that …
