Doesn’t this sound familiar? Andy Kaufman pranks his way up Hollywood as an entertainer. He’s taken so far that some people don’t even know if he was faking a joke or going for real. Up to the point of his death. And to some conspiracy theorists, Kaufman still is alive. Well, Jim Carrey played Kaufman in the 1999 Man on the Moon. One of his pranks, Kaufman had wrestled Jerry Lawler and fell into a neck brace. Then they both appeared on the David Letterman show and had an argument which ended up with Lawler smacking Kaufman to which he returned the favour by throwing coffee. Here, I give you the two segments of what actually happened live on air on the David Letterman and the segment in Man in the Moon.
