The new GoPro Hero3 sports camera is getting rave reviews. A sports camera is a camera like the ones you see in extreme sports videos or daredevil stunts when they are from the point of view of the performer – they’re able to be mounted nearly anywhere and are super durable (including having an underwater casing). Some of these cameras, like the Black Edition GoPro HERO3, come with a wi-fi remote that can control multiple cameras and make filming easier.
It’s also affordable, ranging from $199.99 to $399.99 depending on the edition and features you’re looking for. The most expensive edition, the Black edition ($399.99) comes with Pro Low-Light Performance and is GoPro App compatible so you can plug your camera into your iPad and view the photos on a bigger screen with ease. Each edition has different frame rates and megapixel counts, and there is a white, silver and black edition.
This is the newest generation of the GoPro camera, but if you’d like to see how the GoPro 2 holds up, check out this comparison from Gizmodo where they strapped the GoPro 2 and three other cameras to the handlebars of a mountain bike and went for a ride. Check out action camera.
If you are considering buying a camera specifically for sports or stunts filming, consider the GoPro HERO3 or even one of the older generations instead of a generic sports camera for optimal performance. They cost less than most regular digital cameras and are much more durable and flexible in their applications.
