We are currently finalizing up an offer to do a car commercial. If we succeed, the video will be directed by Jesse Mann. Check out her Mattel commercial above, took 10 cameras & 4 days to edit. What do you think?
Creating a good engaging video takes the right kind of creative people on your team. Take a look at some of the key roles in a typical film production project.
1) Producer – To be responsible for over seeing all aspects of the film project from beginning to end. They help hire key personnel and arrange for distribution. They need to have knowledge in business and have an understanding in film production, financing, marketing, and distribution.
2) Production Manager – Manages only the physical aspects of the project. There is no creative involvement. Responsibilities include overlooking the budget, personnel, and scheduling. They make sure that the project is on time.
3) Director – Overseeing all creative aspects of the film. Working on the script, to positionings of the camera, overseeing the performance, all the way to post production.
4) Assistant Director – Assist in the director in day to day work. Such as making sure filming is on schedule, manage crew, equipment, script and set. They sometimes may assist in working with background actors as well.
5) Director of Photographer – Working in conjunction with the director, the director of photographer (DOP) is chief in lighting, and framing the shots. They are responsible in choosing the lighting, lens, filters to create the desired shot the director is looking for.
