Happy Friday and long weekend!

TGIF! The long weekend has arrived! That means one extra day of awesomeness on Sunday to be stupid… or smart! That also means cottaging, catching up on sleep, working on your deadlines, or heading out into the wilderness and rocking some 4×4 wheeling and camping at the same time! We took some time off last weekend to head out into some crown land of Ontario to find some lakes a sunshine. What a beautiful weekend it was. Minus the deadly mosquitos. Star Trek

Jj Abrahams is probably glad he didn’t have Johnathan Frakes on board during the filming of the most recent Star Trek franchise. Not that Johnathan Frakes is a bad person, but remember Will Riker? Also known as Number One? Aka original hipster beard from Star Trek: TNG. Yeah, you know, the one after William Shatner with Captain Picard. Probably the best Star Trek franchise yet. And a perfect birthday gift (for those who know me *wink wink nudge nudge*) The question begs, as of all books that become movies, will the movie hold up to the books reputation? Well, Gavin Hood isn’t unfamiliar in Toronto’s film scene as his film Tsotsi was Toronto’s Film Festival People’s Choice Award […]

Visual and Special Effects in Elysium – Opening This Friday!

Elysium is a new movie written by Neill Blomkamp, who also made District 9 and was nominated for an Oscar for that film. The film stars Matt Damon and Jodie Foster and tells of a dystopian future where the world’s poor are stuck on Earth and the wealthy get to live on a nearby space station-type world called Elysium. Already from the trailer the film appears to have stunning visual and special effects. These terms are often used interchangeably, but they actually mean two different things. Special effects are almost like illusions created in camera footage, whereas visual effects are […]
